Noticed Tropies thread so here's another.

Just sold my boat yesterday and could've sold it three times in the last 24 hrs. Funny how you hardly get a sniff then it all happens very quickly. The boat I was after went one hour before mine so it was a little late.

I'm after a 540 sig with a four stroke so if anyone knows one could you let me know. I only had the 520 sig a year but that's how it goes sometimes. It was perfect for the bays but too small for the reef off 1770 so it had to go.

Nothing like having another winter project.

Is there enough difference in size to just go from a 520 to 540 given the cost to do it?

Could you not tow a bigger unit? eg into the 6m range.

Hi Chimo The 520 is really a 5.05 mtr hull and the 540 is 535 or thereabouts so there's a bit of a difference. The ride of the 540 is significantly better and as my mate who used to sell them said, the best of the sigs.

I don't really need anything bigger for what I do, if I lived up your way it would be a different story and I'd be buying a Victory or something like that.

We're talking boats so its not a matter of cost is it???

Hi JJ. You've got your heart set on a Sig. Personally I think a CC 550 is a much better boat. Most are powered by 115hp but I had mine with a 150hp 2 stroke.
But you'll be happy in a Sig.

Well done...seems like just the other day when you got it.
Any chance of stretching it to a 6m rig ? Doesnt seem like a big enough upsize to make a great deal of difference.

I reckon seeing my boat drive away behind someone else's car would be like ripping my right big toe nail out. That might be why I've never sold one.

If it isnt a matter of cost, I would be looking at a Cruiscraft 530 Explorer. Actually, I did. But for me its a matter of cost :)

They're only material possessions Scott. I'm happy to move on to the next project. Marx called it reification I think. I'll miss that beautiful 50 hour motor although it was a bit slow for my liking.

Put the deposit down today on the new baby. Think I'll call it Blank Cheque. Makes four boats in five years. Had a similar run when I was last into boating with three boats in three years. I don't even mean to do it, it just happens.

Not yet as its conditional on a mech report. Murf is doing the trip, all I have to do is pay him, feed him, take him fishing and have a bottle of JD ready when he arrives.
