Hi all

Ive seen someone use an FG knot but I never got around to learning it. I was really impressed with its small profile when tying mono to braid.

Does anyone know how to tie it and if you could point me in the right direction that would be awesome :)

All my knots are F-ing Good.;D

Albright knot is good, use it all the time. You can find it on you tube. ;)

This might work for you.

Here's your FG video.

Used it for the first time recently tying 50lb braid to 100lb leader...great knot lasted 3 GT's- to 29lb, a 8foot tawny shark, 18lb coral trout, 5 foot Barracuda plus some others and was still going strong. Re- tied it only because I was starting to feel guilty about lack of attention to re-rigging etc..
Learnt how to tie it off 'YouTube' as Gon Fishun suggested. There are a couple of slight variations I picked the easiest looking version :)

Richo, are you using the nomad style or the "tight triangle" way? Leigh

Used it a lot earlier this year up at Rompin. Works a treat, and as its smaller than the albright it runs through rod guides much better when using high speed reels etc. We were popping for sails and it was fine, where as the Albright kept catching the guides !

Using the Nomad style, the original video I saw was some Hawaiian dude. But was the same as the clip from 'Nomad SF'

We did break tests with it and the braid was breaking well before the knot, leaving the knot still intact on the leader.

I like it alot.

This is what I use as I have had a stroke and lost most of my right side.

I use a slim beauty on the beach and rock walls.

I remember the first time I used and made an FG knot, beautiful it was very strong, I sat up on the couch the night before and crafted it.

Went out to the rock wall, first cast and some guys in an inflatable motor boat ran over my line in the first minute, cut me off.

I just used the slim beauty now as you can tie one in a minute on the beach ans I even got a $1 tube of superglue in my backpack I give it a touch up to hold the hitches better.

I think the FG is more of a Jigging knot.

Also I have heard that you don't need a bulb on the end of the line as the grip actually comes from the "Chinese finger cuff effect", also if you use glue use a flexible one to allow line movement under tension.

I have tried this and yes the line does not slip out, I have snapped off a few and the line wont pull out.
Though never used it on big GT's or anything like that or anything over 50lb.

Slim beauty is a good knot though I got better results with the FG on the heavy gear. Need to practice SB abit more.

I am a fan of the albright knot myself... has never let me down and if you do it right the mono lies down nice and flat and does not foul on the guides... easy to tie also but I suppose they all are if you get used to doing them... seems that the 5 minute youtube vid to tie a single knot is a bit of overkill... I don't have that long to tie each knot haha :)

does anyone know where to get the line burner nomads use in the clip ?

The auto access shop in Woodford has them on the counter. $19.95 each. Mini blow torch.
I would reckon they would be readily available.
Cheers

The ones on the clip have a shield so braid doesn't burn, just poke leader out !
