It looks too symetrical for a ray's barb maybe?

Seems too square on the edges but either way, he's going to be a sore boy for awhile - hope he got a tetanus shot!

I can sympatise with that person, what a horrible barb and the pain would be devestating.

I was hit by a small ray 10 years ago and there will never be another Ray anyway near my hand ever again.

For all you fisherpersons who get the odd carp they have a very similar set of Spines top and bottom. Be careful, they would be hospital job to remove.

Boil a couple of spikes up in a jam tin and have a look, you will be more than convinced to be careful.
