I am no longer in croc country but every time I was in a tinnie in a croc country i always had the one thought.

"if only these big buggers were just a teeny bit smarter they would jump onto the side of the tinnie and swamp us.... all you can eat smorgasbord"

Crocs are cunning.... they lay in shallow water on the bottom and stir the mud with their tails deliberately so they can hide in bugger all depth. They watch for patterns at the waterside and lay in wait for a repeat episode. It's always seemed to me that it wouldn't take much for them to learn the side swamping technique.

If they did that then a whole lot of boats would become unusable in northern Australia. Silly thought perhaps.... but all these tourist tours teaching crocs to jump for chicken legs can't be a good thing in my book.

Havent you watched Swamp People on tv??? The stupid crocs could jump on the side of any of those guys' boats, but it just never seems to happen!! :P

Oops, yes, they are Alligators on Swamp People but same thing more or less when it's got a massive hook down its guts?

I don't reckon even a starving croc would want to eat one of those guys.

Your right Jack.... the croc should have the advantage but doesn't seem to wake up to that fact.

That's my point... If they ever do then it won't be safe in any small boat. So far hasn't happened so no need to worry... but it's an interesting point I think.

The way they can jump for the chooks in the Adelaide river it wouldn't really matter how big your boat was. Even a big reef boat wouldn't be big enough to stop the suckers. But I do agree that it is lucky that they don't do it

I lived in NQ for 20+yrs and many times when i was out fishing in the creeks, i was thinking the same thing what if they came up out of the water and onto the side of the boat...
Have seen them drifting past the boat just under the water, and the croc would be only 5 feet away from you...
Gets the heart rate going a little lol... when you look at it and it is about 8-9 ft long and the 12 ft tinny you are in just dont seem to be that big anymore...LOL
Teaching crocs to jump is going to get someone killed one day.

Alligators are nothing like crocodiles . I would like to see those swamp blokes or the turtle man grab one of ours ,might make a good show
