Your tips on a strong RAM mount to fit on a bow rail?
It has to be strong enough to hold a Furuno 585 Sounder.

Go to a Johnny Appleseed store & check out the range ( they can customise the pieces to meet your needs)
Having used both the traditional ram mount & the swinging arm type ....... go the swinging arm if you can - it's not as flexible in its positions but it is more robust and less prone to loosening .
Always go bigger than you think - less prone to moving or loosening

Thanks NAGG.
I can choose between this unit (by mounting and angle to side):

OR this one:

If I then chose to mount into side wall of my plastic polycraft, what screw profile would I use to handle the weight of the Furuno585?
Thoughts?
