Looking to get a second hand tinnie and need some advice. The boat is an alley craft with a mariner 10hp outboard. Asking price is 5k. What do u guys think?

Hi mate,
I believe that 5K ($5000) is way too much much for this. I think a more realistic price may be at max $1500 with safety gear etc. I would have a mechanic give the motor a once over too.
Cheers

Second most of what's been said, a very rich asking price. I paid a bit over 5K in 2005 for a 3.95m Stacer, 30hp Mariner outboard, Dunbier trailer, some safety gear (I had most of it), marine battery/navigation lights fitting, and that included on road/on water costs. I would keep looking, price up some new ones (when I shopped around Stacer gave me pretty good package deals if you opt for Mariner outboards, substantially cheaper than buying say the package with a Yamaha) and yeah, $1,500 is realistic for the rig and if the hull is sound, trailer is all good and motor is good (service history, rough number of hours, compression tests, not corroded) then it's a decent price for the rig.

I just sold a better package than that for $1950. $5000 is absolutely ludicrous. I wouldn't offer a cent over $1500.

Let me know what your location, budget and expected use of the boat is and I'll link you to some decent options.

Having recently going trough the buying process, I can tel you that a 12ft tinny with 15 hp and trailer all brand new at NCB was $4950. That included saftey gear and rego's, and that's all brand new with warranty ect.

You could have mine for 5k, but I' not selling.

i had a similar motor, a 9.9, and if the decals are original, i think it would be something from the 90's, don't know why the 10hp sticker on the sides?
