I've got a stella 20 sw and 300m of 113lb unitika power jigging braid. The question is How much backing do i use to fill the spool and of what type? I don't expect to ever see the backing while jigging, it would only be if i caught a monster on a live bait. Any suggestions?

I have the 18SW and use 80lb braid and I have no backing at all on it.

Have you got 2 other very large reels? Overheads will be fine.
You can fill your Stella with the braid then top shot it with the backing to get a full spool. Then use another reel to wind it all off. Then a third to wind that onto which will mean this time the braid will be on the bottom so now when you wind it all back onto the Stella the backing will go on first.

It's the only way to be sure....

Turns out the answer was none. I put a few metres of 50lb mono on to start with to stop the braid from slipping on the spool and spot on 300m of the 113lb.
