I am considering fitting an anchor winch to my Cruise Craft Reef Finder 533.
Does anyone have experience of drum winches fitted to this type of boat?
What should I look for?
Is a drum wich the way to go, or is a gypsy-type winch OK, as they are cheaper?
I saw the "Stress Free" wicnches at the boat show - what sort of reputation do they have?? Still quite expensive at $2K boat show price plus accessories.
What other types are available?
Thanks,
Peter C

Mate i have the stressfree free fall on my seafarer and they are a fantastic bit of gear, once you get used to it i think they are easier to get anchorerd exactly where you want and even if you do miss, its no problem to lift it again and drop 10 mtrs away!!! The only problem i have found is that once you have one you wont have a boat without one!!! Hence i recently put one on the kevlacat that i brought in November!!! Not sure how much anchor well space you have on the cruise craft as to what size would fit but i am sure there is one you could get in there, of course the other alterative you have is to buy my seafarer with the winch alredy on it!!!!lol Any other questions dont hesitate to call out, they are easy to fit and both times i have got the wiring loom off stressfree which is a bit dearer but a lot easier! Have a search for Maxwell HRC 6 on this site. Having researched winches and bought and fitted this one myself I love it - I reckon its about the best bit of kit for a gorilla you will get. This is an extremely advanced system that can be used freefall or power out and its a very powerful unit.
