Bow mount electric bracket

Has anybody made their own ally bracket for their bow mount? I'm about to knock one up for my tinnie and I'm just wondering what thickness to make the base plate for the mount out of. Its a 54lb Watersnake so I'm thinking 6mm plate with a bit of flat bar tig welded around the outside edge for stiffness. If anybody has had one made and knows what thickness material they've used that would be great.

Yeah mate have done a few now , and used 6 mm for the base and edged it with 50 x 6 mm flat bar around the edges , probably overkill , but it is what i had available .Probably get away with 3 mm for the base and edge with 50 x 6 .
