Hey guys does anyone know if you can just rock up to the island resorts and go have a beer n feed etc.
If so which are the best ones to go to?
Can you stay the night and still be able to leave your boat somewhere?
I bought the 100 magic miles book but it is more so for sailboats yahts etc. I have a 6m boat with no tender.
Any suggestions

I haven't been in the Whitsundays for about 25years (went there on my honeymoon and hired a boat for the week) so no doubt a lot would have changed since then, I was intending to be up there this September but due to financial circumstances I can only do the Kepples at this stage, however I did ring up Hayman a couple of months ago to find out just that and I think you have to stay at the resort overnight and not in your boat (Expensive).

I did stay on South Molle then as well and they had moorings off shore that visiting boaties could tie up to and visit the resort but you would need a tender to do so. You should be able to tie up at Hamilton Island marina and sleep overnight on the boat, their rates at the moment are approx $65 per night for a boat up to 8m long and you can fuel up, get showers ect. and I think you can top up your food supplies for your boat as well. The prices would most likely be more expensive than on the mainland but you pay for the convenence. You would also need to book as they are busy. Best thing would be to ring up the resorts that interest you and you might have to confirm availablilty to stay.

If you check out the bare boat charters websites a lot of that sort of information is available. Most resorts have a charge for mooring/anchoring - yep it's a tourist place after all. :(

Try these for starters or google "whitsunday boat charter resorts moorings" or similar ;

Thanks for that guys. Looks like south mole and Hamilton would be ok to visit, everything else seems like it would be too hard without a tender.
I going to be there on my honeymoon so I will have to visit the resorts at some time eo keep the peace. Probably head out the reef for a bit of a snorkle and hopefully for a fish.
