motor upgrade?

Ok guys, I have just had an interesting day at the boat show. I bought a down rigger and an Epirb. I also got an interesting quote to upgrade my 130 etec to 150 etec. My dilemma is that my heart says yes but my head says why. My wife is being polite by saying " so long as you can afford it". My son says spend the money elseware. Anyone else have an opinion or can empathise with me?:(

what do you hope to get from the upgrade?
and is it worth the cost?

Nothing wrong with 130, its actually great
Better hole shot, better top speed (62km/h to 85km/hr)
I can afford it but I can also spend the money elsewhere. Like I said, its the heart or the mind!

Im with Honda...what are you going to gain out of the upgrade? Either way if you decide to go for it let me know how much you want for the 130? Im kinda in the market for one....

Not much point doing an upgrade for the sake of it and a salesmans say so. I guess the fact that you asked means its been on your mind and you can afford it more importantly. I was in a streaker with a 150 etec, I nearly fell out of my chair when it was given the stick. Can you go a 175?;D

think of the new rod's and reel's, new sounder etc that you can buy without the upgrade

How many hours on the 130? If it still has alot of life left in it keep the 130 & spend the money on your family?

Sounds like you need to upgrade your son...he should be on your side!!!

The etec has 70hrs up. I have just about got every other toy ( rods, reels, sounder, gps etc etc ).
The change over is too good to just sell private and buy again so not worth the hassle to me ( at this stage , lol )
I will tell all when I decide, I have until wednesday. It wasn't the salesman who initiated!
You guys are all teases too, " what you wanna do that for, but, i am jealous, go for it " ha ha ha

aussie_stu, as often as possible! Admit its not always but I tend to go for it if the weather is fine.
