Extending Minn Kota shaft

Wondering if extending Minn Kota Terrova shaft is a job that can be done DIY or something that has to be done through BLA. And where can you get the parts required? I want to extend a 54 inch to a 60 inch.

BLA will do it for $160, won't affect your warranty.
I'm told they will sell you the parts, not sure how much.

I replaced the shaft on a Riptide model. I purchased the shaft from BLA. The hardest part was removing the old shaft from the lower housing, as my motor was 10 years old and it was stuck in there pretty good and cracked when I tried to unscrew it.
