Hi all,
A mate has been given a Glastron v140, it has an Evinrude 60hp on it but is only rated for a 50. Does this affect rego or is it just insurance? The boat is in good nick, glass & no rot & has a bow mount leccy. He wants to use as a dam river fisher. Any info apprieciated.
Cheers Brad

In nsw at least according to nsw waterways and it's in your licence book
It is illegal to exceed the manufacturers recomended hp rating
The fine was around the 500 mark from memory

So in nsw yes it would affect your rego your insurance and you have just ignored what you hav agreed to when renewing your licence

Its not necessarily all doom and gloom. It may be possible to get it recertified for a 60hp. Seeing as 50/60 arent so far apart anyway.

Thanks,
He got it for zip so I dont think its too much of a loss, the hull is in great nic even if he had to repower I dont think he would lose.
