telstra seem to have lost my phone line .....

If Telstra are at fault with your phone number, tell them to divert it to your mobile at their cost.
I have been through this myself and lost a lot of sales.

They lost our fax line two years ago with a cabling issue in the area, they still can not find it's termination. You dial the number and it rings, but is never answered and it is not on the line that holds the fax that used to work for the previous 23 yrs.
I must say though that removing the fax from the business contact details and forcing it through to email is much better than fax ever was.
