I am in the market to buy a new boat, I have come accross the Haines Signature 530SF Acclaim package, and am wondering if anyone has any thoughts of this package.

The main usage will be fishing Moreton Bay, with the occasional trip outside, and family fun days on the water.

Base package that I have priced up so far is boat, trailer, 90hp Optimax, bimini, and basic sounder/gps and VHF radio for $40k.

Would 90hp be enough to push a boat of this size around?

Also with the optimax, if anyone has experience with the optimax and a 4stroke is there a big difference in noise while crusing?

Is there anything else in this price or size, new or second hand that I should be looking at.

Ideally I am looking for a boat that will keep me going for many years to come.

Thanks.

I've got a 520 cruiser which I think is the same hull. I've got a 115 4 stroke which is max power and weight. Its no speed demon but goes well and is very comfortable. 90 would be minimum power. If you can get the motor weight closer to 150kg than 200kg it would be a bonus. The package seems good value with an opti which are a good motor but noiser than the 4 stroke but with similar economy.

Yeah ditto to that the 90hp would the minimum. Go to the max hp if possible.

Have you looked at the Baysport 575 or 435?

They are wider and more stable at rest than most. Similar prices but a bit more boat. Have a look at the video on their website. The construction is robust I think, using the glass foam filled chassis.

My 575 has Yammie 115 2 stroke and it's ok but could do with more grunt.

530SF hull is slightly different to the 520C hull and is quiet a few years newer than the 520C as well. Both boats ride is similar but the 530SF has a curved wind screen. 530sf is a sexy little boat and the SVDH hull is like a rock in the water at rest. Build quality of any signature is excellent IMHO and resale is also second to none. Your on the right track considering a 530sf. Also have a look at the 540f Acclaim it looks good to but a touch bigger.
My two bobs worth.......

Are the 520c and the 530SF the same hull below the water line Assassin? The 520 Acclaim and the 530 are the same hull. Just wondering, its nice to know these things.

I have a 175opti on my Whittley Clearwater 2100 and you get a bit of noise at low rev's but it is reasonably quiet up on the plane. I have a 115 opti on my 1750 clearwater and i will say it was quieter than the one I have now. The 90hp and the 115hp have the same size powerhead (I am lead to believe). I bought my 1750 with a 90hp elpto Merc on the back and it worked pretty hard when I have my family in it and the 1750 was 5.2mtrs I upgraded it to the 115 opti and it made a hell of a difference. Funny enough my old boat is up for sale....As below.

Whittley also do a 1900 Clearwater also. If you have your heart set on the Hanies then go for it as they are a very nice boat tried and tested throughout time but if you want a bit more bang for your buck then have a look at these.

Hi Jarrah Jack
The 520C and the 530SF are very similar but are not exactly the same. 520c has a slight pod type extension at the transom of about 4 or 5 inches where the 530SF does not and the 530SF has a bow sprit moulded into the hull as well as the deck where the 520C only has it moulded into the deck. Hope that makes sense.

Cheers
