I don't know what area you are from but there are some big Catties that get caught in a large dam close by here. But I have never caught or heard of Catties that big been caught in Australia. I could be wrong though. I have caught them around the 60cm mark.

Regards,
Doug.

Thanks doug!
I have personally caught the fork tailed species at sixty centimetres and they get big, up to twenty kilo's!
in the national book of fishing by frank prokop it lists the species to ninety centimetres...

Yeah I know that the fork tail catfish gets to a big size, but I don't think the eel tail gets as big as the fork tail though...

mate i got one in sommerset around 70 centimetres and one in wivenhoe around the same so i cant see why they wouldnt get to the metre mark.

try local creeks too somewhere that doesnt get heavily fished.

I used to get heaps out of Copeton dam in NSW when I was a kid fishing with bait, biggest would have been around 60cm, 7-8lb. In WA they have Silver Cobbler that are huge but they have the forktail.

Me too scott, got heaps around the 4kg mark on garden worms but I had an uncle get one that went 13 pounds (it was a while back) down at Keera.
