the surfers paradise game and sportfishing club held a comp on anzac day with a 100 dollar donation to legacy being the entry fee, they raised around 2k which is a great effort.
fifteen boats entered and the weather gods were kind to us for a change.
only two blue marlin were caught one died during the fight being tail wrapped ,the other my boat UNREEL tagged and released a nice blue with a short measurement of 3.2 m so over 200 kg.
the fish took the long rigger lure [larva 12inch in fluro]she spent the whole time it took us the clear the spread on top of the water going spastic even charging the boat before going deep, she took 800m in the first run ,the fight lasted 45m on 37kg stand up.pretty stoked with my first comp win,a day i wont forget in a long while.

Nice one Opti, the sort of days that make it all worth while..........
Pretty cool to see the skirt pushed inside out on a lure, some high speed runs for sure. 35 minutes of standup would be an effort.
