Just wanting some thoughts on what size electric you guys would recomend for an old (heavy) 15 foot fibreglass runabout. Was thinking of having it for an emergency limp home motor for in case the old 1976 55 evinrude decides to retire (as I really dont like paddling) but bow mounting it so as to use it for fishing as well, mostly in rivers and estuaries.

24 volt isnt a problem as i can mount the batteries up front in the boxes under the seats to even out weight and keep them out of the way for space saving.

Just wondering about the reliability of the watersnakes because of the price but cant justify the extra cost of minn kota to the finance dept as she would object if the leccy, batteries etc was worth more than the boat :'( especially as I can only get it over the coast to use about 3 or 4 times a year, which is why I would prefer electric over buying a small aux motor for the purpose as would have the same problem as the main of sitting for extended periods not used

any opinions would be appreciated

Thanks
Wayne
