Looking to do a bit of fishing around donnybrook over the weekend, has anyone had any luck with jewies of late? Looking to set up in the deeper water around the mission point/lime pocket area. Livies will probably be the bait of choice....... do they prefer any particular type of livie, whiting, mullet, herring etc.

Any help would be appreciated!

I would probably opt to set a 4" mullet out with a small pea sinker right onto the hook then set it back so it cant hit the bottom. Clip the tail back to about 1/2 size before you set the bait. Then I would pick up the placcy rod and work some paddle tails for the jew actively as you drift through your holes and channels.
In my experience the better jew are hunting during the run not the slack and they only turn it on for half an hour before snoozing for a few hours again. You will need to work that one out for your area and why they would be feeding at what time........they are good ambush hunters that should give you plenty of clues to what makes them tick.
