Hi Guys I swapped the fuel filter on my 4.3L MPI Mercruiser on the weekend I have not started the motor as yet as I thought I would ask a question first. Given that the motor is fuel injected do I need to bleed the fuel system after opening it up by taking off the filter? I filled the new filter as much as I could with fresh fuel but there will still be some air in the fuel system. Before taking to the water I will drag it out to the road and slip the muffs on and fire it up but just wanting to cover all the bases.
Thanks
Aaron

Hi Aaron,

You don't need to bleed them like a diesel, and because you pre filled the filter it should be fine, if you put on an empty filter you just turn the ignition on a few times (you should hear the fuel pump come on each time and this will fill the filter) but in your case it should be fine to start, it may cough a couple of times to start off but that is nothing to worry about.
