For your fishing options, locations and what is biting at the moment call into "The Lure Shop". I am sure Russell will be able to help you out and steer you in the right direction.

take your son fishing off the town wharf.. jig some herring or cast net them throw them back out and hang on... last time i was there the first little lure i threw out caught a little queeny that got nailed by a big Mac right in full view.. such and awesome place.. there are some serious jacks there as well.. hmmm if you son is holding the rod tie him to the wharf as well lol

For a place to stay you can,t go past the local caravan park Big 4.
We stayed there for two weeks
There is a rock wall man made just past the jetty and you can catch estuary cod barra queenies etc
There is normally an old indigenous person who fishes off this rock wall and he says that if you do not catch a fish in the first three casts then go to the pub.
The cemetry especially the old chinese part is well worth a visit.
