hey guys i purchased a new project, i dont know the brand of the hull and the hin plate is missing and the motor serial has been ground off, its legit its just been through a few people, and i would be able to track it back to its original owner but it would take alot of time, how will i go about registration?
Anyway its a suzuki 85hp dnt know what year, its got a new perspex screen and side they just have to be screwed on and the motor needs to be hooked up, its had all new carpet and gunnel strip and a new paint job thats been like heat treated or somethings. 76949769507695176952

Im not sure anyone grinds a motor serial number off for any legit reasons lol. I think you are going to have a lot of trouble registering that motor.

You may be able to find a serial number somewhere else on the motor. I know you can with some mercs. Makes it difficult to order parts.

no,wont need serial with rego just the Hp thats fitted,i have registered 10 boats in 5 years, doesnt sound to flash though,Why would you grind the numbers off ??vlooks in good nick, but a compression test will tell the truth, anywhere above 120psi is sweet,as jarrah jack said, parts will be your hardest problem, you should be able to find a number on the block or heads though which will help identify the motor.

I am sure I had to give QLD transport my engine's serial number to register my boat.

Well i dont know if this was a bad thing to do or not but because the motor is not hooked up yet and i have a compression tester i had a crack, what i done was just connect the tester and spin the prop a couple of times with my hand, and i mean a couple, was very hard! They where all at 60PSI

Yep my motor's serial number is on the rego papers, and had to be listed in change of ownership papers.

whoops.... QLD for me too
I would suggest if there is no requirement to list it on ownership/rego papers, then it wont be required lol.

the engine is a hard one to figure out without a serial number the blue powerhead indicates a very early model but the gray outside paint indicates the low to mid 1980's and the serial number is stamped so u cant grind it down or u will wear thru the plate i think some smart cookie filled in the serial number with spray putty, bondo, or paint use some metho or turps and rub the serial plate to remove all the paint as for the boat she looks like a carribean runabout the nose gives it away
