G'day , I have a bit of a issue of pushing the boat off the trailer, I have a commodore station wagon, so i don't want to get to close to the water. The trailer is a tilt trailer but it doesn't want to push off easily,

The skids have a rubber on the timber skids, I was wondering it replacing the rubber with something else (I've tried putting silicone spray)

like this

and use stainless countersunk bolts thru the timber

or this

G'day

Yes, just replace the current covering with the blue material you have found at Bias and it wil be perfect. Silicne spray it if you want it it will really fall off.

How does owning a dunny-dore station wagon warrant not wanting to get too close too the water?

I had exactly the same problem with my tinny... except instead of the rubber, there was some sort of carpet. It had worn down and when I launched it took a 5mm piece of my boat with it :(
The hole may have already been there and siliconed up, as there was a gummy substance on the rail too.
Anyway, armed with both a rivet gun and a caulking gun, boat was repaired (dont worry, temporary fix until welder mate gets back from working away) and I replaced the timber pieces of shyte with these:

Made the world of difference.... all for the princely sum of $16. :D

From the photo the problem is not your "skids" Your rollers are way out of adjustent, that back roller needs to be high enough there is no or minimal weight on the "skids" same with the rest of your rollers. The weight is supposed to be taken on the rollers, the skids are to keep the boat from rocking from side to side and guide it on and off, not take any weight.

When your adjusting your rollers you can also make the front rollers a little higher, giving the keel a slight down run across the rollers (while on level ground) , will make it launch a lot easier once the angle of the boat ramp also comes in to play.

Feral's on the money. And make sure you centre rollers are high density nylon not the soft rubber that is meant for fibreglass boats. Also lube the roller pins and the boat should roll on and off.

the white/beige skid materiel u have on your bunks is ment for fiberglass boats thats why its so hard to push it off

X3 for the roller problem. Adjust them all to take the weight and if the rear roler misses the stern compleatly because the boat is too far foward, adjust the winch post back a little so the roller touches the bottom of the boat

You've got a tapered keel thunderace so the rear roller is never going to support the boat nor would you want it to.
It would be better to see the rest of the trailer but you should concentrate on adjusting the rest of the rollers (not the rear one) and skids plus changing the skid material.
I'd shoot for that white cutting board stuff.

I just don't want to put the rear wheels in the water and then slid back into the briney and end up with my photo on here looking like a tool ????,
fair enough ???

Fed is right, the keel tapers from about a foot from the rear , so increasing the height wouldn't work, there is no way it would slide off,
but I can adjust the height of the skid, so this might be easier to do, I brought two new poly skids for $30 each, thanks for everyones replies
