View Full Version : as anyone strenghtend there transom to hold bigger motor? and good welders?

hey just looking at upgrading my motor on my tinny, just wondering if anyone has strengthend there to hold a bigger motor then the boats rated to, and if there any welder that you recomomend to use around the goldcoast/ brisbane area?

You can and I have but it all depends on how much an increase in power and weight your going up by.

Doesn't it void insurance etc if it isn't certified by a marine engineer? What kind of size jump are you talking about also considered the additional weight to how the boat's going to peform?

These pods are what happened to my 10ft tinny that needed a bit more ability to carry the motor without water spilling in after quick stops or when backing up. The pods also make a good casting platform. They did also stiffen the transom too.
