G`day,

I`m a newbie to boating, Learning everyday about things. I went to BCF for all my Electrical needs (Fuses, Tape, Cable, Heat shrink wrap and Lights etc...) I then went to BIAS boating Slacks creek only to find out all the stuff I bought at BCF was half bloody price there. There cheap and have bloody good product. Great service aswell. I cant say anything about BCF`s fishing or camping gear but for all your boating parts, I highly reccomend BIAS. I cant get over how Good there prices are.

cheers

I just bought the Raymarine S1000 Autopilot from BIAS online, got 10% off even though it has a "N" part number. Was told if bought online they will honour the over $1K discount on all items... that makes prices for Foruno and Garmin GPS and fishfinders really good..

What are you wiring up young fella??

Whitworths is a good shop but they're further north.
BIAS sux. But that's my opinion and that doesn't count for much at all really.
....and they close their doors every afternoon after a days trade whirlybird.

Wish we had a BIAS here at the Sunny Coast to give Whitworths a bit of competition. Whitworths are fine but for SS bolts and fastners etc., balustrading cable etc. you are better off going to a specialist bolt and fastner place. We have Suncoast Bolts and Fastners local to me at Warana and who charge on each item and Bolt In Co on Wises Rd at Maroochydore who charge by the kg on small orders of SS bits and pieces. Well worth the drive to either.

Local marine shop and bait shop down here in Ballina I find cheaper than BCF. Bias and Whitworths have good prices but cost a tank of fuel to get there from down here. I like to shop local when I can. mojo

BIAS in Tingalpa qld were really helpful for me recently. There is also a auto / marine place in Victoria Point qld who were awesome in terms of advice.

Always go to Bias or Whitworths first ......... specialist boating stores with a range several times larger than BCF

I do my homework on all of the above outlets before I make a purchase. Recently bought an inshore flare kit from BCF, 6 bucks cheaper than whitworths, and as Smithy said wish we had a Bias here on the Sunny Coast, will often use the Virginia Bias when I am down that way.

Drawing up a $2000 "wishlist" of stuff for my new tinny and so far all combined Whitworths have come in cheaper than BIAS, they are aslo closer. That said, I'll now look into the 10% off for online orders an see how it adds up. They are pretty much priced the same with a few variations on different items. Don't even look at BCF anymore unless I see an advertised bargin which isn't very often - my local tackle shop is better value for fishing gear.

as a few of you know im only new to owning a boat.
when i got the boat i wanted a radio and a few other bits.
saw a radio i liked on fleabay for $127. same radio was same price at bcf and bias. less the postage so was cheapeer to buy over the counter. a few parts i have gotten from jaycar, bias and bcf.
for the battery; out of the boat places near me bcf was cheapest however it was $10 more than supercheap auto for the same part number battery. and considering where i was and going to, it was cheaper to buy it from bcf.
It all depends on how much you are likely to save compared to the cost of getting to the shop. i know one guy who drove from one end of sydney to the other just to save $10, when it cost him about $15 in fuel and more if we counted time..
iUnless im going to save $10 or more on a purchase i will go to bias as they are 10min from my door and not worth going further for less :D

When are you installing them all little matey?
It sounds like your not too far from our Brisbane place. If you want you can borrow tools and stuff when I'm there next and, if you want, I can show you how to do it if there's nobody else about to show you.

I am mate, Save about eh $5. Seeing as BCF has preety good buying power over small competitiors I would`ve thought them cheaper. Learn something everyday I guess. Hey finga, Me next door neighbour 50 years exp. I`m doing well at the moment. I bought a switchboard with Red switches from bcf and the wires that came with the switchboard were all in the Wrong spots. Manufactures problem. Was there for an hour trying to figure out what was wrong.

Question: Where can I buy a bracket type thing to keep the battery box flying around everywhere. The battery is situated at the back. On the hull. Can I just like Sikaflex it on?

Cheers

Sounds like you need a battery box. The strap holds it down to the floor

And you should take note of what your neighbour does and ask him if you can do the soldering and stuff.
A great opportunity for you to learn :)

If you have the box and it cannot be attached to anything using the strap that should have been with it then just sikaflex it down somewhere.
Take some pictures too matey. I like seeing young fella's learning :)

Untick the box at the bottom where it says Retrieve remote file and reference locally when you insert the link

I've never been a fan of battery boxes I like to watch my battery terminal mushrooms grow.
If you sika or screw it down you will need room to vertically lift the battery out of the box and the battery will still rattle around inside the box unless it's a tight fit. The whole idea is just a PIA.
