They were Seagulls. Guessing Tailor or the carp of the Ocean ( Salmon) in the white water. COuld not get a clear image because of the huge amount of spray and mist around these guys.
Saw about 5 Dolphins come in about 8.30am. Also watched heaps of diving birds. One bird dived in, never to return !!!!!!

Reckon it was just as bad if not worse than the attached photo taken after a cyclone p[assed the Gold Coast in March 200375017

I'm flying into Brisbane on Wednesday and then waiting for a weather window to get my boat down the coast to home in Newcastle. Was at least hoping to be at Coffs for New Years Eve- doesn't look like it now. Boat is currently on the hard stand down the gold coast ready to be splashed after antifoul.

By 6 O'clock this evening that flock of birds had turned into about 50million.....the things were everywhere, dive bombing all over the seaway between Wave Break and the end of the wall.

I heard about a rescue yesterday at bruns with a 50 foot sail cat towed through the bar by a trawler after the cat lost its anchor while waiting out the swell.

dont know if its true or not 3rd hand info...

(sorry lost its rudder not anchor)

whoa, now that would have been a sight to witness; I'm guessing incredible skills and courage by the trawler skipper.

Sounds like chucking some slugs through those birds in the Seaway would be interesting, from a safe location only, of course!
