74937That's right folks its free coming back from a trip to NZ aboard sun princess we came across a abandoned 40' yacht.
The captain stopped the ship and we turned around and dropped a small rescue boat to see if there were any people on board.
As the rescue boat approched the yacht about 100 4 to 5 foot bull dollies swam across and hung around the stern of the sea princess.
No one was on board and when we had clearance to leave we just left it bobbing around out there. Yachts name was Scotch Bonnet and it had 5 people on board when the storm stuck. Rescue party said it had about 3 foot of water in it here's a photo.

Is it going to survive the building weather? Did you get its position at least?
Sounds like a project for some enterprising bods.

kind of highlights why you should stay with the boat for as long as possible, it is still obviously floating, but then, who knows the circumstances for sure?

Be sensible nice if a extra radar reflector was attached or even a long life strobe.

Even big boats don't like hitting stuff and would make a mess of a fishing boat gear if they didn't see it let alone another yacht.

Shame to see what would have been a nice rag boat abandoned and weird thay if it was bad weather when abandoned it doesn't seem to have a drouge or ropes out. Be interesting to read more of the full story
