Well,

Today was a day that I'd been looking forward to for a while...... .a day out on the big blue with Smithy, from SQCS, after too long only reading the reports of people cleaning up on his boat, I had conned a couple of mates into heading out.............unfortunately their ginning around cost us our preferred day (monday).......... so we booked in for today (Thurs 22/12)................

Obviously the weather was not playing the game........ so we came in pretty early, much to the relief of Jack, one of the ring ins from my mate, who was pretty much seasick from the approach to the bar and the rest of the way.........

Rob did a great job in crappy conditions, and put us onto a few boils......... the swell was nasty, and you could almost write your name in the face of the waves as it rolled under us. The new boat made the ride pretty bloody good! And although Jack was in the locker, the rest of us found his demise somewhat amusing, I think he asked smithy a dozen times to please drop him off somewhere........... anywhere.........

Well due to the conditions, Rob called it early so we headed in.........my previous experience with some less than professional charter operators seeing this as an opportunity to pretty much clean up by still charging the full or near to it fee, was blown completely out of the water by Rob.

He looked after us very well, much better than any had anticipated, and all of us are itching to get back out with him and even if it means a 2:30am wake up and 3am departure from brissie to get there on time ! Well Jack may skip it, but he has been educated in the way of the Kwells / Travelcalm....... this was also his first charter! So he'll remember it!

So anyone who has been umming and aahhhing about heading out with Robert Smith, stop that right now and make a booking you wont regret it.............

Oh and on the fishing front there were a lot of birds out there working, but it was hard going, we managed to get onto a few boils and boat a couple of midget Mac tuna, but that was about it!

Pity you couldn't get out earlier in the week with better weather and good catches including two days of successfully landed quadruple hookups!

I'm sure Paul will do a report in the next couple of days.
