thread title pretty much says it all, old mans boat sat at a dealer after its service for a week or so as he was in hospital.

anchor well drain had a bit of mud and muck stuck in it and it dried up, finally got down there to pick it up today and it seems the anchor well has been full of rain water for a few days.

is there any chance of the rope weakening as a result of this ?

Hello iqarus,

If the rope is a synthetic, no problems.
These days most anchor ropes are the silver synthetic ropes.
I think that Captain Bligh's Bounty had a manilla anchor cable, look what happened to him!.
I would be more concerned about where the anchor well overflowed.
Is the under-floor now full of rainwater too.?
have look under the floor and open any inspection ports to check.

the well drains to the outside of the boat at the bow, we cleared and washed all the crap out today. i went and burnt the end of the rope after i read your reply, it melted so its definately synthetic. thanks for your reply :)
