does anyone use them,and what are they like.
will they do the job

I used them once,,, The next day i went and bought fixed lights. Some people use them and have no issue but honestly I thought it was a waste of my money.

they are usually used by boaters who only need temporary lights, like (say) people who may only boat after dark a few times a year and do not have a battery and so on installed, to answer your question, yes they do work, but they are a very poor substitute for proper lights.
