I'm sure that the majority of us listen to the radio and look outside closely to see its looking a little overcast this morning.... But if the last thing you do is check Ausfish before heading out for a fish, look at what was issued by the Bureau.

Issued at 5:59 am Saturday, 8 October 2011.

The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 6:00 am, very dangerous thunderstorms were detected on weather radar near Toowoomba and the area north of Toowoomba.

Thunderstorms are moving towards the east.

Very dangerous thunderstorms are forecast to affect Laidley, Gatton and the area west of Esk by 6:30 am and Ipswich, Boonah and Esk by 7:00 am.

They are forecast to affect the ranges north of Jandowae by 6:30 am and Kingaroy, the area northwest of Kingaroy and Lake Boondooma by 7:00 am.

Damaging winds and large hailstones are likely.

** CORRECTION ** A wind gust of 139 km/hr was observed at Oakey at 5:30am

Hope nobody gets caught out. Looks menacing on the BOM.

Hi
woke at 5.30 and all was daylight. Woke at 7.30 was pretty dark and thought i could hear thunder. Looked on BOM. Some heavy rain for about 10 mins, plenty of wind and now it is just medium light rain and breeze. Thank god no hail as car was on front lawn.

Bill has been wanting to go for a fish all week-- kept telling him the weather was going to be bad.

Cheers
Ronnie

An hour and a half later and all the red bits on radar have gone and it does not even look challenging for the new drainage I have installed around the pergola area.. Bit of a fizzer so far. Still not boating weather, Tim D and I will make some jigheads instead:D

We just got a pizzling out at Somerset Dam !!

Was getting ready for a daybreak fish and red claw session, looked up to see dark clouds rolling in !! 10 min later, heavy rain, lightning and thunder with gusty winds !!
Camp has copped a good flooding, still drizzling now, been raining for hour and a half and looks like more to come......

Cheers

Perfect off the Tweed at 4:30am. Clear skies with light winds.
Caught a few squire around 40cm off 9mile.
Saw dark clouds and lighntening approach from NW at 9am, so we motored back in at full throttle in glassed out conditions.
But nothing like BOM was predicting .... many boats stayed out on the reef when we headed back [ Fishawn & Carnster included .... so watch out for his report later :-) ]
Spearo got a 120cm kingie at Fido's, and heaps of metre + Jew frames at the ramp.
