Trailer brakes are stuffed. Can anyone recommend a place for repairs on the Sunny Coast ??

Gunna, they are not hard to do yourself and a lot cheaper as well. Should give it a go as the time may come when you may have to do it on the side of the road as I did once with a mates rig outside Winton. He was supposed to replace the bearings and brakes before the trip but just didn't get around to it and he didn't even bring spares, but that is another story.

Where on the sunshine coast are you, there are a couple around Caloundra way who do the work but i have never been to any of them.

Gunna,

There's a pretty good trailer place opposite the Ettamogah Pub - I think it's called Sunshine Coast Trailers.

I've met the couple who run the place - they got into the business cause they wanted a camper trailer and couldn't find what they were looking for, so built one themselves. Just snowballed from there I think.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Steve

I would agree with Dignity - if you have the time, knock it over yourself. I have been stopping at active fabrications (http://www.activefabrications.com.au/) to get brake parts. They seem to be pretty good.

Yeah - they have had a couple of owners since then - for the last six years it has been owned by a real estate agent and his brother who is an air conditioning mechanic. What they know about trailers wouldn't fit on the back of a postage stamp. Business is also up for sale.

Best place to go is Australia wide trailer repairs in Caloundra - Latcham drive I think. Grant has worked on more trailers than most of us would see in a lifetime and he knows his stuff.

Gunna,
Depending where you are - Ron at All About Trailers is pretty good as well - he specialises in Boat trailer repairs. Located on Steve Irwin way at Beerburrum. We send a lot of people there, who come to us for trailer repairs - as we don't have the time. Never had a bad report about him - nice bloke too.

If that is too far away for you - You could try Trailer repairs and spares at Kuluin. Don't know them as well as previous two guys - but used them once years ago and they seemed OK.

Another vote for Ron on Steve Irwin way. He is between the Matilda and Glasshouse I think.

Thanks all. I will try Ron.

The whole assembly has come loose. One bolt is missing and it seems the thread is stripped on the other so its a bit more than I want to take on.

Cheers

Funny - Ron was actually here about an hour ago - dropped in some more business cards as we had run out. He has been away on Holiday - had a good time, but he had a problem with his boat Ask him about it & he'll wonder how on earth you found out. It'll do his head in. ;D
