Left from wello point 4am headed up the bay towards the cape . Stopped off at spot between flinders and hutchies for a few drifts but no interest at all so headed out close to 200m depth. Dropped the downrigger out with livey for a few passes over the mark and another dead bait dropper, the current was pushing us along quite quick so after a few passses with no interest and soar arms from winding up with no fish on we decided to head into tempest.
Once we got to tempest the current was great fishing with 4 ball and line was still straight down, Ive rarely had the current so slow that you had to drive up to the mark because you did not have all day to drift there , wind was dead calm with the ocaisional 2kt puff. Spent the day hunting around and managed to pull 3 squirey snaps 50 to 60 cm and just legal pearly that was released, no other small squire at all and probly lost two good fish. Heaps of whales.
Early afternoon multiple storm warnings on radio so at 4pm started to head home with perfect bar conditions low tide 40km/hour straight through.
All in all got a feed top day out on the water 75 litres used and a few beers.
