G'Day Ausfishers
Does anyone know if there are any similar courses in Queensland to the ones available through TAFE NSW - North Coast Institute (seel link); or something similar (coaches) that allows fisher people like me to get advanced detailed learning’s on specific types of fishing techniques, weather, safety and the regulatory and environmental responsibilities without having to engage and waste a guides time and my money?

personally I reckon NOTHING beats just doing it and fishing with mates and so on, while I am sure there is a few tips a course provider may be able to pass on, but doing it youself is the best teacher, it is called "experience" and regardless of how much you pay, it cannot be purchased.

If there isn't anything on the www.training.gov.au website, search around and see if there is. Many courses and qualifications come from training packages or accredited course, no course and your interested in developing one get into it. Why do I know this? Because I look after VET registrations fro training providers LoL Most fishing related qualifications relate to the Sea Food industry closest I found was 90887NSW (NSW accredited course) Certificate III in Fishing Industry - Recreational services its an accredited course developed by NSW. No registered qld providers. hope this helps.

Thanks for the info Mossy, it’s much appreciated, I will follow up on your lead.

Your right Noelm there is nothing like time spent with friends but we were all taught by someone, so I’m just looking to take my learning to the next level a bit quicker.

Beach fishing clinics will be conducted from Thursday 11th of August to Tuesday 16th August on Main Beach (around camp 13) North Stradbroke Island.

Tailor techniques will be the main area of instruction with extensions into bream, whiting, flathead, dart and anything else that is stupid enough to take a bait.

All welcome.
