So much for customer service. I have emailed numerous sellers in the states in the last week or so making inquiries about purchasing a late model used outboard.

Not asking them to ship here as i have made arrangements with my employer to fit into one of there shipments so really only asking them to ship within the USA.

For the life of me not one reply, do they think the inquiry is not legit being from o/seas.

Nowhere in my inquiry have i used the word Viagra so you would think no alarm bells would be ringing.

Some tips to get those replies.....

Don't use an email address with ".au" on the end.

Most US dealers do not like shipping used outboards OS for dealing with OS warranty issues.

Do not give any hint that you are from OS.

Do not give any hint at all about shipping OS even if you are using a third party.

Good luck!

Steeler,
If you want results, phone the dealer. It is about 2 cents a minute to the US or PM me with what you want. I am in the US now & have numerous addresses here.

I found a very similar thing (although I did have an AU email) the only one I got a reply from seemed to be some sort of scammer and I never went any further.

It is a real pain getting things shipped from the states.I was after a special walking frame for my wife and couldn't get anyone to ship to here.I even offered them to ship to my nephew in New York so he could ship it here to which i received no replies.

Also they weren't available in Australia so i had to go over there just to pick it up myself.

Got lucky, had a Tohatsu dealer mate of mine ring me and tell me he had a nice trade come in on a new Tohatsu as a result of the recent Sydney boat show

The trade was just what i was looking for, a nice 4 cyl Merc ( 2+2 style ) 125hp. Spent most of its life out west in freshwater.Just got sort out a 4 blade prop and a new gauge set and steeler is one happy chappy.

And thanks for the tips Peter, made the decision to grab thing an easy one, enjoy your trip buddy.

Funny that ..I've been emailing a few GPS combo sellers on ebay in Canada and the US about a unit for a mate. Not one reply yet even though they advertise worldwide shipping.

That represents good value if its good clean runner JJ, you could sit it in the shed and just admire it for its superiority over others manufacturers.

Something to remember is that the US (in general) is a phone-based culture. In addition the bigger dealers gets hundreds if not thousands of e-mails a day, most from scammers no doubt, and you can see why they don't answer e-mails. Phoning them is a pain though due to the time difference.

Good point, I ended up getting replies from 3 overseas suppliers now and going to order the part at a much reduced price to what I would have paid here.
