Thanks nidrac, its funny but on the dpi site it states they are good eating but the max length they grow is 35cm and since they come under the cod/groper banner the legal take size is 38cm. go figure ?

Catch a fair few around the islands, geez they are such a pretty fish arnt they,
bizarre on the size regs...

Yeah i'm pretty sure there was a thread not so long ago discussing that issue about the max size they grow too and the rules. Never really been picky enough to think about eating them though too much effort to fillet a fish 30cm long when you have nice trout you can have instead :)
