i spent all day in the garden (seeing as im still waiting for my new suzi outboard to come from timbuktoo!:() and on a trip to the dump i had a bright idea;) after talking nicely to the lady at the office she said i could bring my boat down and weigh it.

after first weighing my 4wd rodeo at 1.96t :o i then put the whole rig over the bridge and it came in at 3.10t, so knowing the trailer is 315kgs i worked out the boat must be approx 825kgs - without motor, battery and virtually empty of fuel but with the anchor, chain + 80m warp, seats and all safety gear still onboard.

the hull is a 1996 haines signature 550br. once i add the new motor, battery and fuel the boat sitting in the water ready to go is about 1150kgs before adding myself and crew.
all up towing weight must be about 1450kgs which is not a huge amount i thought.

i worked out that 130 litres of petrol is about 95-100kgs is this about right?

i really had no idea what the approx weight would be but is this a fairly average sort of total for a 5.5m fibreglass boat?

always interesting to know i guess:)

cheers ryan
