Is paint stripper ok on gel coat? The clown that owned the boat b4 me painted on his rego numbers in black gloss...and i need it off.

no you carnt use it ,it eats gell coat.sharp razor blade scraper and some wet and dry is your best bet

A sharp scraper carefully applied, followed by some wet & dry and then some buffing compound and you'll think it was never there.

good quality stanley blades make good scrapers...depending on what attitude you want...the cutting edge for some things, the back of the point on most brands is sharp on ne side and blunt on the other from where they are stamped.

Just be carefull and patient and don't let the corner dig in.

Good quality oven cleaner is excellent at removing paint from a hull. Cheap brands will not work due to the lack of a particular chemical compound.

After using, wash the area with a soap wash and apply polish.

Try some carby or brake cleaner, thinners will also take it off without doing much to the gelcoat. I attacked mine with everything short of paint stripper to try and clean it up and nothing touched it.
