Got a call from a good mate of mine named Shane Matherson or "metho". He was heading out to the fern grounds wide of yeppoon and with the weather reading 5-10 knots I was keen but would have to get it past the missus. Metho said "well why don't you bring her along?", so we packed up the gear, dropped the kiddies off and headed to yeppoon.
Conditions were great, nice and flat. We pulled up around kepple to let the women jig some livies just on daylight. With about 50 in the tank we headed wide. A quick drift on a new spot resulted in bitten off leaders (from sharks) and we moved to the sweet spot and dropped the pick. Metho hooked up first and swung a nice red over the side. Metho still wasn't convinced we were on the money so a re anchor was in order. Well this time it was accurate. Once we hit the bottom I was on and brought my PB large mouth to the boat of around 5-6kg. Metho then swung a stonker trout over the side of about 6 kg as well. My missus Amanda was having a bit of trouble hooking up due to the single hook paternoster. So I switched her over to a PE Tackle red zebra fly and stinger setup and put a livie on for her. As soon as she hit the bottom "BANG" fish on. Since she hasn't done much/any fishing a bit of help was needed. But once she got a bit more confidence she took over and done well. Her first ever fish that she had caught was swung over the side, a nice large mouth around 5kg's. Well done. Another livie went down for Amanda and "fish on" again. She played this one like a pro and a nice red hit the surface and was swung aboard. About 6kg's too so it was a nice one. I caught another large mouth and Metho also caught one. The bite only lasted about an hour before they shut down but it was a great hour and seeing manda catch her first two cracking reefies was brilliant and made me very proud. Well we could have went home but stayed a while and caught a few hussar a nice red throat and about a billion trigger fish. Actually I also caught my first chinaman which was released. Well i hope these photo's work ok. Video up soon.
Cheers from boony

thanks for the feedback guys. Hey gt that chris name is going to stick for a while isn't it :) we will get out for a fish one day. Bull the boat we went out on is metho's 8 meter plate boat. It really is set up well for fishing, not sure of the make. Also am really glad that the missus didn't get sick and enjoyed herself.

the spot where he got his livies is a "spot x" but we have gotten livies from around 40 acre paddock, hannas rock, sykes rock, N eastern bommie at man and wife and finlays reef. Size 6 or 8 bait jig. Depends on which way you are heading for the day will depend where you stop for livies. hope this helps.
