Australian Volunteer Coast Guard (http://www.coastguard.com.au/) today announced they have signed a one-year sponsorship agreement with BCF (http://www.bcf.com.au/) – Boating, Camping and Fishing, naming the leading national outdoor retailer as their Official National sponsor.

Australian Volunteer Coast Guard National Commodore Ray Campbell said the Coast Guard was proud to be associated with the BCF, and the Coast Guard’s 50th anniversary year was the perfect opportunity to formalise the agreement which today rolls out nationally.

“We are delighted BCF have decided to support the Australian Volunteer Coast Guard nationally through their network of stores, providing financial assistance as well as helping to increase awareness of how the Coast Guard helps protect the wellbeing and safety of all Australians when on the water,” Mr Campbell said.

“The Australian Volunteer Coast Guard is not-for-profit, and relies predominately on donations and sponsorship. This sponsorship with BCF will provide the Coast Guard with much needed funds to continue their education and rescue service to the community.

“Starting this month, BCF will begin raising money for the Coast Guard through their ‘roundup’ function where customers can simply ‘roundup’ the value of their transactions to the dollar value they nominate, with all proceeds donated to the Coast Guard at the end of the year.

“By shopping at BCF and using the ‘roundup’ function, every customer can show appreciation for the work of the Coast Guard and know that, regardless of how big or small the donation (http://www.coastguard.com.au/donate.html), it will make a great difference.”

In addition to financial aid, BCF will also play an important role in raising awareness of the Coast Guard, encouraging volunteering through their extensive customer network and playing host to local Coast Guard fundraising, education and recruitment events.

BCF Chief Operating Officer Steve Doyle said the Company was excited to be the Australian Volunteer Coast Guard’s Official National Sponsor, working closely to generate further volunteer support and provide funds to such a vital national volunteer service.

“Last year the Australian Volunteer Coast Guard rescued more than 6,300 people after they experienced difficulty whilst out boating or fishing, many of who are regular BCF customer,” Mr Doyle said.

“This partnership is a great way to help celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Australian Volunteer Coast Guard and we are extremely excited to be working with the Coast Guard to make Australia’s coast line safer.

“BCF’s 77 retail outlets across Australia will act as a key point in attracting like-minded people who understand the importance of marine education, emergency marine search and rescue operations, and supporting vital services such as the Coast Guard.”
