As you have previously expressed an interest in being kept informed re matters relating to marine radio operator qualifications, you may be interested in the following:

1. The ACMA published its Approach to Market (ATM) for the provision of Marine Radio Certification Services on the AusTender website on 7 June 2011.

If your organisation is interested in tendering or you wish to review the tender documentation, please refer to the AusTender website for access instructions - website www.tenders.gov.au (http://www.tenders.gov.au/).

Interested parties and potential tenderers should register with AusTender and then download the documents. This will also ensure that notifications of any Addenda issued are received. Potential tenderers must be registered in order to submit a Tender.

The ATM ID is 11ACMA011 - Marine Radio Operator Certification Services – The ATM has been categorised as 86000000- Education and Training Services.

Yeah saw that, obviously if they are calling for tenders to deliver certification services, they have already decided they wont remove the need for licences!
Looks like the Wowsers have won this round.

The on going need for the MROCP (MF/HF) was never in question or review. It will always be around for the commercial sector. The VHF (MROVCP) is what is under review and as yet no decision has been released.
