Suzuki DF80 Idles fast

motor was running fine for most of the day. then one time i turned the key and it shot up to 2 grand before leveling out around a grand. sometimes it would start perfect and idle normally for a while before increasing back to 1000 rpm. the temp alarm also came on twice.
i had 60nm to get home motor didnt miss a beat. when back in the habour motor was still idleing at 1000 rpm. any ideas on what could be causing this as it has me stumped

Crook Idle air control valve or intake air leak

also check if the throttle cable is pulling the throttle control all the way back to idle
