Was looking through some 1972 vintage modern boating and stuff from the boatshow just the other day. Articles and the:o adds are just gold.

G'day,

Remember what a new Falcon GTHO cost new? About the same as a new MGB and about twice as much as the most expensive of these Pongrass boats and about 4 x the cost of a new fully featured analogue stereo system.

What are they each worth now?

Ahh! Memories of what I should have spent my money on!

Regards,

White Pointer

Yes it was to some extent a waste of time but it isn't unique on that score.

Did make a note to self not to bother with any threads started by "fishin-grod" in future though ;D

Would have been a good one for April 1st

Good one matey. :)
I wished the thanks button was still here so I could just go thanks instead of writing this.
What other ads were there??

Oh Barney....sometimes you have to look at where you've been to know where your going.
Stop looking at saving the planet and look at what made this planet what it is....great.

+1 to your comments finga. tidbits of useless boating/fishing information are what makes this forum so interesting.

call me silly, but maybe anyone who thinks that they're "wasting their time" reading posts on this forum should simply stop "wasting their time" and just not bother logging in and reading the ausfish forums, surely that would be easier.

A Pongrass Aquarius(4.8m, 50hp Johnson 2st) sold recently on Ebay for $3,700 - and my wife tells me boats aren't an investment! :P ;D

Liked the old add. Would be happy to see more of them on here.

Glad to see a few of you enjoyed them :)

Ive got a few more. I just need to pull my finger out and cut/scan/resize them. Got a few old boat adverisements for various brands and original boat tests on various DeHavillands, Pongrass's, Stebers, early Quinnies etc.

I have put a couple up in the 4x4 forum from 1970-1975:

Yeah, my dad kept the old Anglers Digest mags for years - they were a good waste of time too, till the silver fish ate them.

Many a picture of Bob and Dolly Dwyer with a monster marlin in black and white.

The boats never looked so dated but the motors changed incredibly over the years.
