hi all just become a member tonight located on the sunshine coast so thought i'd try my luck here i brought a 6.1 hydrofield that im doing up it was a bare hull last week i put a new transom in and tacked the pod on last weekend my question is i brought a 200 yamaha 25'' leg and placement off the pod is 600mm back from the transom and from the bottom of the hull is 26'' high as the pod has a 6'' gap from the bottom of the pod to the bottom of the hull should i fill the gap in so the pod sits the same as the boat ? or could cavitation be a problem either way? my email address is kristimoney@yahoo.com.au cheers

Im lost:-? you put a pod on yourself? Tacked? take some photos and ill tell you what to do. (if i can) I just did a complete rebuild on a Hydrofield about a year ago.... Search 5.6 extension on here and you will see why i changed the pod height and all the measurements.

Yes the pod should have been made down the the bottom of the hull, a little step is ok but that is quite a rise...... Personally i would fill it in.

also make sure you put duckboards beside your pod or you will drown your engine.....

Definitely full depth pod and duckboard if you arent going to make it full width.
I really dont know why people use pods that arent full depth. You lose so much bouyancy right where you need it the most.
