Hi I have a Tabs 5.4 bowrider and am considering putting on outriggers so can run a couple more rods when trolling. Has anyone done this, what was the experince and any suggestions on brands to look at please? Thanks Jim

I reckon outriggers can be built for just about any boat.

You sure you need outriggers? I can run 4 lures out of a 14 ft boat with two rods in the corners and two more in T shaped rod holder adaptors along the sides.

I just put 4.5m out riggers on my boat and I find them great. I went the Reelax Gunnel mounts on my hard top and Reelax Poles and rigging. No complaints so far, they hold their own underway in rough water and troll well. There are probably cheaper alternatives on the market but I try not to muck around when it comes to price vs quality.

Cheers

Thanks Jeremy - - what sort of rod holders please? - all options are gratefully received. Thanks

What I was talking about is a stainless tube about 500mm long that fits inside your rod holder with cutouts to sit securely on the peg, with another piece of stainless tube a bit shorter welded across the top but angled up at maybe 20 degrees to take the rod.

I know Reelax make sets of these, but I got a pair custom made for my boat at a local fabrication joint.

If you had easy access to a photo, that would be great. Thanks

G'day,

Just go to the REELAX website. They sell the mountings, poles and rigging kits. Place your order, get a price and transfer the money to their account when they are ready to ship. Don't pay by credit card because the last time I used their site it wasn't secure.

Regards,

White Pointer
