The weather forcast was good for Labour day so myself Richo and another mate of mine headed out to Scawfell Island for a bit of a fish.

It seemed that everyone else had the same idea with queues at the servo and the boat ramp delaying us.

Once at the island we anchored up and Richo and Steve started pulling Coral Trout in on their handlines.

I was trying to get some live bait but kept coming up with Iodine bream and unknowns.

I caught a a variety of small stuff and a fair size mother in law fish before a decent sized Trevally grabbed my bait, luckily I decided to use a heavier outfit than the one I got smoked on over easter. LAst catch of the day for me was a good sized Grassy Sweetlip.

Nothing happened on the live bait side and we moved a time or 2 to get out of the current as two 12 snapper leads was only just hitting the bottom.

Pretty soon home time loomed and we had to head it.

All in all it was a good day not huge fish but a pleasant day on the water.

I only ever got out to Keswick Island when I was posted in Mackay back in 2000. Always dreamed of getting out to Scawfell. Nice pics.
