It will be a nice rig when finished.......Are you sure about the twin 250's?.....
I would have thought not enough......A boat getting up to that size would have benefitted from a couple of 350hp diesel stern drives....

Keep the weight low, torque up and fuel bill lower......Just my opinion.

I've worked on a lot of bigger boats.....30ft to 90ft....Diesel just seems a more viable option at that size......you could also run a little 4kva onan generator aswell....and have refrigeration...aircon etc.

Pretty awesome looking Tinnie.:o :o

Would be good to post all the updates in one thread so everyone can see the project from start to finish (See Opti's Thread (http://www.ausfish.com.au/vforum/showthread.php?t=152162&highlight=opti) for a great example )

Maybe the mods can merge all the other threads into this one?

Dan,

The twin 250's were from the previous boat "Alexander" which was a 8.5 meter Performance Plate boat. The boat was sold without the motors as the buyer had his own motors. They have only a couple of hundred hours up and maybe an up grade to twin 300's will be contemplated in a year or so.

The boat is for fishing off Fraser Is. and cruising speed will be kept at around 27knots so that the transducer can do its work in finding the fish.

Dan5,

there are a couple of other Performance Plate Boats running around of a similar size as charter boats with twin Suzukes and they are going fine. One guy had just come from twin diesels and wanted to get away from them.

It's a small world..was talking to a chippy this morning on site at about 4.30am..turns out he is one of the owners of the boat..was telling me about the truck and trailer setup he is going to tow it with.
