Looking at a new 4 stroke and my boats max hp is 175. i'm more then happy to go with the suzuki 175 4st but really like both yamaha and honda but they dont get a look in as they dont have a 175. they both go from 150 then upto 200 just seems to be a gap they could fill. You cant say the 175hp wouldn't be popular as i've seen plenty of the suzuki 175's getting around. just seems a bit weird but i'm far from an expert

Thanks dazmc, that makes it even stranger then that yamaha dont do one if the other big names do em, i guess they know what there doing but as you see yamies everywhere.

The Yammy 150 is a very gutsy motor, some say around 165hp so not that far away from a 175. I would hate to be a manufacturer trying to keep up with Suzuki 175, they are a beautiful motor .

I have to say the Suzuki 175 are really really good motors, try one.

the 175 Suzuki is probably one of the best motors in that HP range, bar none, Honda and Yamaha and everyone included, see if you can arrange for a test ride with one, I can assure you, it will be worth it. I don't own one, so am not being brand loyal to try to convince you, but I have been in some of my mates boats, and those motors are spectactular performers. I know this is not an apples to apples comparison, but one of my good mates changed from an old carby 2 stroke 200HP Johnson, to a 175 Suzuki on the dealers recomendations, the difference is astounding, from a more HP 2 stroke to the Suzuki has transformed the boat so much, heaps better cruise, lower fuel use (as extected) superior trolling, I doubt there is one thing that is not better after the re-power (except his wallet)

the 175 Suzuki isa very sweet, smooth, powerful and efficient motor, and yes you would notice a difference between it and a 150 Yam.

The Honda is also a V6 and has a lot bigger alternator

yep, you will be very happy, but as many have said lots of times, they are all good, buy from a trusted dealer near you and enjoy your new motor.
