Team,

I have a question how does the bar crusher 560c really go with the 115 4 stroke outboard??

Cheers, :) :) :)

I would think it would be barely enough, thats not from personal experience though so take my advice with a grain of salt.

suitably propped, a 115 will be OK, probably not the pick if you were buying new, but it will still be OK.

Mad one,

You will find the figures are obtained with the boat being as light as possible (not much fuel, no gear etc). I was in the same frame of mind as yourself when we purchased a 560XS with 115hp. Centre console version, same hull. Real world with gear and fuel we get 34 knots top speed out of it. This is about 2 knots slower than the maximum stated on these tests if I recall correctly with the xs figures. We were happy enough with that for a fishing boat. At the end of the day if your funds will go the extra distance why not. You should be able to find someone on this site that can give you real world figures for your hull with this motor.

I'd reckon it would be just OK. It would go much better with a Suzuki 140, Honda 130 or Yammy 150 on it.

I have the Surtees 550 which is same size hull as the Barcrusher 530c. I have a Suzuki 115 on it and it gets along very nicely. I get 65-66km/hr top speed and 2.5-2.6 km/l economy. I did consider going with a 90 or 100 but everyone said to me "go max hp for the hull" which was 115. Glad that I did!

One thing is 100% for sure, if you go for the bigger motor you wont look back in a year's time and say "Gee I wish I had put a smaller engine on the boat". Guarantee that!

Cheers

I think member Skusto here had a 560 with a Yammy 115 before swithing to a 150 Etec. Maybe you could PM him for more precise info.

hi yes we had 115 yammy 4 banger and it did the job ok for up to 3 people top speed around 60 k and planed down to about 18k so was ok offshore .once you put more weight on then 3 people it was slow up onto the plane decided to put a 150etec on it as this is max for the hull and the same weight on the back . the difference is great can now cruise at 55k on a good day getting around 1.9k per litre trolling economy is as good as the 115 yammy . another advantge i found is the boat is more stable heading into a sea as it pushes a big prop with lots of torque from the motor . this tends to give a better ride.

my suggestion would be go max power . there is a few around with 150 4 strokes on the back and you could ask how they sit with the extra weight on the back.

i would not go back to a 115

ps i dont think a 115 does justice to the hull

Skusto thanks for the info,

how was the hole shot with the 115hp?

what type of range would you be getting out of your rig?
