Anyone know a good etec dealer around brisbane that has good experience and knowledge with setting up large outboards on tournament style bass boats?

The HO does use more fuel, but it is a sports engine, if you want sports performance, that is the compromise

Yes they are, although the Gear case is not as strong as the standard E-tec (Non-HO models).. That is because the gear casing is more streamlined (Narrower) as apposed to the heavy duty cases on the standard E-tec's...

The difference in durability is negligible, unless your abusing or thrashing your box...

Personally I would rather have the HO,, Extra fuel used is minimum at worst. Prop it right and you will see near the same economy as the standard 150.. What you will use more off is oil. You are best to use XD100 for the best protection, and the HO motors dont have a choice in oil ratios like standard E-tec's.. The HO are restricted to TCW3 oil ratio...

TCW3 ratio will use up to 50% more oil, but as little as 10% more, pending on your driving style... 50% more is very extreme, totally abusing your motor flat out everywhere, hard on the throttle all the time...

At idle and trolling it will use the same oil ratio as the XD100 setting, and that applies to about 4000rpm.. So cruising will use a similar amount off oil as XD100 ratio.. But in the higher ranges the HO will inject more oil for extra protection..

Personaly I would think you would only use about 20% more oil in a HO for the average bass boat operater..

depending on your boat the difference could vary between 3-6mph...
Hole shot and top end is dependant entirely on your prop...
One way to think about the 150 HO is its a 175hp motor so hole shot will same but a bit more top end..

From my limited experiance the hole shots in the HO's I have been in were impressive, but these were Labcraft and Bullet hulls with 250HO's...
